Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP)
The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) stands as the Government of Pakistan’s premier national social safety net, dedicated to poverty reduction, women’s empowerment, and inclusive social development. Established in July 2008, BISP was conceived in response to the economic challenges faced by vulnerable households across Pakistan, particularly those affected by inflation, unemployment, and rising living costs.
Named after Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, the programme reflects her enduring vision of a just and equitable society—one in which every citizen, irrespective of gender or socioeconomic status, has the opportunity to live with dignity and security.
